Shelbourne won the all-Ireland clash in the Champions' League with a 4-1 success over Glentoran at Tolka Park.

The Glens had captain Paul Leeman sent-off for a second yellow card just before the Shels went 2-1 up through a Jason Byrne penalty on 31 minutes.

Skipper Owen Heary had headed the Eircom League holders in front with Peter McCann equalising for the Glens.

Glen Crowe and Jason Byrne completed a 6-2 aggregate win for Shelbourne who now play Steaua Bucharest.

Heary's opener came on 13 minutes when he was left unmarked to score from a David Crawley free.

But the Irish Premier League champions levelled when Michael Halliday set up McCann to poke home in a crowded box after 20 minutes.

The home side went back in front on 32 minutes after referee Peter Sippel judged Leeman had handled Stuart Byrne's powerful drive in the box.

Despite furious protests, Leeman was sent-off before Jason Byrne calmly scored the resulting penalty for a 2-1 on-the-night lead.

Shelbourne effectively booked their progress when they went 3-1 in the 58th minute.

Heary's cross from the right took a slight deflection and the ball dropped to Crowe, who hit a superb right-footed volley into the top corner.

Jason Byrne got his second on 71 minutes from another Heary cross to complete the Shelbourne victory.
