Kenny Shiels' Larne side suffered a disappointing defeat |
Ten-man Limavady turned in a remarkable second half performance to claim all three points against Larne. The visitors dominated the first half with Mark Dickson and Gary McCutcheon hitting the Limavady woodwork.
Limavady's John Curran was then sent off for deliberate handball but keeper Dwayne Nelson saved Dickson's penalty.
However, Limavady were a different outfit in the second half and Mark McGuinness notched the winning goal in the 68th minute with a superb shot.
Dickson and Gary McCutcheon's efforts which hit the woodwork both came in the same passage of play in the 19th minute.
Curran was dismissed in the 27th minute after using his hands to prevent a corner from going directly into the net.
Dickson stepped up to take the penalty but goalkeeper Dwayne Nelson tipped the spot-kick onto the woodwork.
Limavady's only first half chance fell to Niall Cooke in the 38th minute but he failed to make contact.
Home manager Paul Kee switched his defence to a back three in the second half and the tactical adjustment went on to pay dividends.
McGuinness' matchwinning goal was a superb long-range shot which gave Chris Keenan no chance.
Limavady were the better team in the second half despite being down to 10 men and they could have added to their lead.
