Robinson makes Showgrounds exit

Goalkeeper Robert Robinson is leaving Ballymena United

Ballymena United's signing of Linfield reserve goalkeeper Greg Shannon has led to the departure of Robert Robinson from the Showgrounds.

United have withdrawn their initial contract offer to Robinson who was their first-choice keeper last season.

"I am disappointed because I did not want to leave," said 30-year-old Robinson, who is reported to have attracted interest from Newry City.

"I would have been happy to stay and fight for my place with anyone."

Robinson, formerly with Linfield, was with Ballymena for three and a half years.
