Glenn Ferguson has scored more than 150 goals for Linfield |
Former Northern Ireland striker Glenn Ferguson has signed a new contract with Linfield, keeping him at the Windsor Park club for another season. Recently-appointed Ballymena United boss Tommy Wright had been interested in attracting Ferguson but the player has agreed fresh terms with the Blues.
However, three out-of-contract Linfield players remain on Wright's wanted list.
David Larmour, Pat McShane and Ryan McCann have been given permission to speak to Ballymena.
Another Linfiled player, Stuart King, is also to have talks with Ballymena.
With 35-year-old Ferguson remaining at Windsor, it appears Linfield manager David Jeffrey is keen to continue linking him up front with Peter Thompson.
The strike partnership ended the season on a high, both scoring as Linfield beat Shelbourne 2-0 in the inaugural Setanta Cup, an All-Ireland competition.
Thompson ended the season as Linfield's top scorer with Ferguson missing a number of mid-season games because of a groin injury.
Ferguson joined Linfield in 1998 in a 55,000 transfer from Glenavon.
