Jubilant Linfield manager David Jeffrey said Tuesday's 4-2 win over Glentoran would silence his team's critics. The emphatic win took the Belfast Blues into the Setanta Cup final in which they will play Shelbourne on Saturday at Tolka Park in Dublin (1930BST).
"It was particularly nice to do it at the Oval in front of the Glentoran supporters," said Jeffrey.
"We gave them a right thrashing. There are a lot of people who have given us abuse and this will have shut them up."
Glens boss Roy Coyle admitted the damage had been done when they went 3-0 down in the first half and was critical of his side's defending.
"Conceding the first two from set-pieces was particularly damaging," said the Glentoran manager.
"Guys were given certain jobs and they obviously did not do them.
"We were disappointed at half-time and we pointed fingers at a few people.
"Things were better in the second half but the first half killed us."
