Peter Thompson has scored 27 goals this season |
Linfield's goal machine Peter Thompson has caught the eye of runaway Scottish Second Division League leaders Gretna. However, a spokesman for the Borderers, said that it is normal for clubs to be kept up to date with possible signings.
"Like a lot of clubs in Scotland we have been alerted to the scoring prowess of Peter Thompson," press officer John Tait told BBC Sport.
"Apart from that we have nothing else to say on the matter until we speak with manager Rowan Alexander."
The 21-year-old Belfast postman has been in tremendous form this season having scored 27 goals in 28 games.
Gretna are the only unbeaten side in the Scottish or English leagues having won 14 of their 17 matches. They at present an 11-point lead at the top of their league.
"Everything is going extremely well at the club this season," said Tait.
Gretna are planning already for next season when they look almost certain to be playing in the First Division.
