Darren Lockhart was a key figure in Glentoran's title success |
Glentoran midfielder Darren Lockhart is seeking an improved contract offer before deciding whether to stay with the Irish Premier League champions. Lockhart's current Oval deal expires soon and he is unhappy with the terms offered by the east Belfast club.
"I was hoping for a similar deal to what I was on, but have been offered reduced terms. I hope the club comes back to me soon," said Lockhart.
Defenders Mark Glendinning and Tim McCann are also discussing new deals.
Like Lockhart, McCann has rejected an initial offer from the Glens board.
Player of the year Glendinning, now 35, is expected to be offered a new one-year deal.
Lockhart was a key figure on Glentoran's title success and it would be a huge surprise if he was allowed to leave.
"The reduced offer was actually made before Christmas. I am just hoping the club speaks to me soon and we can get this sorted out," said Lockhart.
"I have not spoken to any other clubs."
