Pascal Vaudequin had been in charge of Institute for 10 months |
Pascal Vaudequin has resigned as manager of struggling Irish Premier League club Institute. Vaudequin had been in charge of the North-West outfit for just 10 months, taking over at Drumahoe after Paul Hegarty's shock resignation.
Club chairman Billy Smallwoods resigned two weeks ago and on Saturday Institute were beaten 5-0 by Newry City.
Former Cliftonville manager Liam Beckett is considered an early frontrunner to succeed Vaudequin.
There has been a lot of speculation about Vaudequin's position as the team slipped into the bottom four in the Carnegie Premier League table.
They conceded nine at home to Linfield in September and last Saturday's defeat to fellow strugglers Newry signalled the end for the Frenchman.
Vaudequin, who played in the League of Ireland with Derry City and Shamrock Rovers, is still employed full-time as Youth Development Manager with NI Intermediate League club Trojans from Creggan.
An Institute spokesman said the club had accepted Vaudequin's resignation and wish to thanked him for his efforts.
The club committee was to meet on Monday night to discuss a replacement.
