Jim Gardiner's Loughgall looked safe from relegation worries |
Loughgall easily picked up the Irish Premiership points at Lakeview Park against a lacklustre Ards outfit. Although the home side went behind to a soft goal by David Fairclough, they were ahead at the break with strikes from Ally Wilson and Paul Harbinson.
Ards had little to offer in the second half as Jim Gardiner's side made the game safe with a third goal from Keith Percy.
The victory virtually assures Loughgall from any relegation worries.
It was two goalkeeping blunders helped the scoreboard along in the opening stages.
After four minutes, Loughgall's Mark Robinson allowed Fairclough's 40-yard free-kick to bounce out of his arms into the net.
Two minutes later, the home side were level when it was Andrew Fox who erred in allowing Wilson's soft header drift in through his hands.
Loughgall went ahead in the 36th minute when Fox stood transfixed as Darragh Peden's long throw was headed goalwards by Harbinson and into the night.
The home side made sure of the spoils when Percy was on hand to hooker in goal number three in the 59th minute.
