Thompson named in N Ireland squad

Peter Thompson has scored 16 goals for Linfield this season

Linfield striker Peter Thompson has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for the friendly against Portugal on 15 November.

It is the first time the top-scoring 21-year-old from east Belfast has been included by Lawrie Sanchez.

Thompson has scored 16 goals in 18 appearances for Linfield this season.

A scout from Premiership side Fulham is expected to watch the frontman in the CIS Cup semi-final against Lisburn Distillery on 9 November.

The London club has been monitoring the progress of the Blues marksman in recent months.
