Gary Hamilton celebrates his winner with Vinny Arkins |
An injury-time goal from Gary Hamilton maintained Portadown's 100 per cent start to the Irish Premier League. Hamilton knocked the ball home from Marc McCann's cross in the first minute of added time after Vinny Arkins' penalty was saved by Marc Robinson.
Arkins gave the Ports the lead thanks to a glancing header from Hamilton's corner after 37 minutes.
Loughgall snatched an equaliser on the stroke of half-time when Stevie Coulter beat David Miskelly with a penalty.
Referee Frankie Hiles awarded the spot-kick for a foul on Alain Emerson, after initially indicating a free-kick.
Portadown, with Michael Collins back in their ranks, enjoyed most of the early possession but lacked penetration.
Loughgall defended well but were unable to keep out Arkins' opener, which flew into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
Hamilton and Richard Clarke had first-half efforts blocked by visiting keeper Robinson.
Ronnie McFall's side went in search of a winner in the second half and Kyle Neill saw his free-kick rebound off the base of the post.
Hamilton headed over and was wide with a volley, while Arkins' acrobatic volley flew over the crossbar.
The Ports eventually netted their late penalty winner after Paul Harbinson was adjudged to have brought down Arkins inside the area.
