Jim Roddy was Derry chairman for four and a half years |
Jim Roddy has announced he is to step down as Derry City chairman after four and a half years in the post. Roddy, who made the annoucement at the club's AGM, will remain with the Eircom League Premier Division outfit in a commercial and fund-raising role.
It is understood the current vice-chairman Hugh McDaid is likely to take over from Roddy.
At the meeting, shareholders were told the club made a loss of 35,000 in the year up to October 2004.
Falling gate receipts, and players signed by former managers Dermot Keely and Gavin Dykes, contributed to the loss.
Derry are considering switching their home matches to Friday nights in an attempt to increase attendances at the Brandywell.
The north-west club experimented with Saturday night homes games at the start of last season before changing to Thursdays.
Roddy said the club would listen to supporters' views on the matter and that is was important to maximise crowds at home fixtures.
