Andy Crawford scored two goals in the first half for Newry |
Newry City moved up two places to 11th in the Irish Premier League by beating Institute 4-1 at the Showgrounds. The home side were 3-0 ahead at half-time thanks to two from Andy Crawford and another from Robbie Farrell, recently signed from Dublin City.
Crawford steered a fifth minute shot past 'Stute keeper Ciaran McLaughlin after being released down the left.
Farrell bundled over number two for Newry after beating McLaughlin to an Austin Friel corner on 17 minutes.
Crawford notched his second soon afterwards, ending a good run with a low angled drive into the net.
Thomas Wray pulled one back for Institute on 66 minutes with a back post header from Calvin Mooney's left-wing free-kick.
The match was then held up for nine minutes when the floodlights failed but power was restored and Newry made it 4-1 in stoppage-time with Derek Donohoe on target.
