Michael Halliday scored the only goal in the Oval clash |
A second half strike from Michael Halliday gave Glentoran victory in their CIS Cup Group One opener against crisis club Coleraine at the Oval. Bannsiders midfielder Stephen Carson saw his shot saved by Elliott Morris just before the break.
Halliday struck on 71 minutes with the striker meeting Sean Holmes' cross to fire into the roof of the net.
Coleraine came close to a late equaliser but substitute Darren Boyce fired wide when well placed.
There was consolation for Coleraine with Glentoran handing over all gate receipts to help the Bannsiders fight off bankruptcy.
