Roy Millar's side were defeated in the Milk Cup Elite final |
A hat-trick from Charlie Davies helped the USA to a 4-2 victory over N Ireland in Friday night's Milk Cup Elite final at the Coleraine Showgrounds. Tommy Stewart (12) put NI ahead only for Rodrigo Lopez (21) to equalise.
Davies (32, 45 & 59) made it 4-1 with Johnny Steele (82) netting before a late red card for NI's Paul McDowell.
Jeffren Bermuda's goal gave Barcelona a 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier decider while Lyngby beat CSKA Moscow on penalties in the Junior final.
Two penalties left the Elite final at 1-1 before the outstanding Davies won the game for the Americans.
The Boston student hit a superb shot into the bottom corner on 32 minutes before poking home on the stroke of half-time.
A 59th minute penalty sealed his hat-trick and Steel's close-range finish was merely a consolation for the hosts.
McDowell's poor challenge in the last minute resulted in a straight red card and ended a disappointing night for Roy Millar's team.
Meanwhile, Brazil ended their championship on a high note, beating Serbia and Montenegro 5-0 at the Ballymena Showgrounds.
