Robert Robinson kept Ballymena in the game with some fine saves |
Ballymena needed a late equaliser from Justin McBride to claim a 1-1 draw against bottom club Omagh Town in Saturday's Irish League encounter. Damien Whitehead stabbed Omagh ahead in the 53rd minute after a Nigel Boyd mistake had put the Ballymena defence in serious trouble.
Robert Robinson then kept Ballymena in the game by denying Whitehead in the 65th minute.
Hamill then atoned for two misses by setting up McBride's 79th minute goal.
Former Glentoran and Coleraine striker Hamill had been denied by a Glenn Watson stop in the first half.
Joe Gray also missed a great chance for Ballymena early in the second half prior to Whitehead's lead goal.
The draw improves Omagh's position slightly but they are still five points adrift of second-bottom Newry City.
