Stephen Kenny's side will fancy their chances in the second leg |
Bohemians secured a crucial scoreless draw away to Levadia Tallin in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the Uefa Cup. Bohemians had hoped to grab a vital away goal before the Estonians travel to Dublin for the away leg at Dalymount Park on 29 July.
The Dubliners started well before Levadia came into the game.
However, the Irish side controlled most of the second half, with Levadia having only a handful of chances.
Levadia quickly gained confidence and made their first dangerous attack in the second minute when young striker Ats Purje was clean through but Bohs keeper Seamus Kelly saved well.
Purje had another chance to put the home team ahead five minutes later when he went dangerously close with a shot from out wide.
Bohs had their first dangerous attempt to open the scoring three minutes later when Glen Crowe's header from a corner flew inches wide of the target.
And in a lively opening Levadia went close in the 12th minute - but Kelly blocked Vladimir Voskoboinikov's shot.
Vitoldas Cepauskas tried a volley in the 27th minute from fully 40 yards which Kelly only just managed to push past the post.
Bohemians went closest in the 54th minute when Crowe's cross found David Morrison, who headed just inches wide of the goal.
Levadia had a similar chance in the 66th minute when Marius Dovydenas got a good cross from Voksoboinikov, but his header too flew closely past a post.
Bohemians finished the game the stronger and although they failed to find the target, but manager Stephen Kenny will fancy that with home advantage at the end of the month they can continue in the competition.
