Liam Coyle has severed all links with the Brandywell club |
Peter Hutton has been handed the caretaker manager's role at Derry City following the resignation of Gavin Dykes at the weekend. But while Hutton moves in, veteran Derry City stalwart Liam Coyle has severed all links with the Brandywell.
Coyle, who has given great service to Derry, says that he has been snubbed by the club after the Hutton appointment.
Hutton, though said he is not interested in taking the job on in a full-time capacity.
Hutton told the BBC that it is a big task that the Derry board have handed him.
''It's going to be a big challenge,'' said Hutton. ''But I'm really looking forward to it.
''However, it's only a short-term appointment to maintain some continuity in the dressing room.
''We have a quality squad here which just has not been performing. It's now going to be a massive game against Bohemians on Friday night.''
However, Coyle, who was part of the coaching set-up at the Brandywell after retiring last January, claims that he had been led to believe he would be in charge of the team for Friday night's game in Dublin.

''I feel a bit let down by the decision,'' said the former Northern Ireland international. ''It's disappointing in the end. I'm a Derry supporter and player and after the career I have had, people will think you are not up to the job.
''It's absolutely nothing against Hutton, but it's disappointing to be overlooked for someone who's still playing.''
Dykes resigned after Saturday night's 2-0 Eircom Premier Division defeat against Drogheda United at the Brandywell that has seen three mangers in the nearly a year.
The former Derry and Finn Harps player, who took over as Candystripes boss from Dermot Keely in September 2003, had been under pressure following a poor start to the season.
There has been a lot of interest in the job with Coleraine's Marty Quinn being mentioned as a contender.
