Shelbourne 0-2 Derry City
Derry City striker Michael Holt
Michael Holt scored Derry City's second goal at Tolka Park
Derry City's unbeaten run against Eircom League leaders Shelbourne continued at Tolka Park on Monday.

Derry dumped Shelbourne out of the FAI Cup and held the Dubliners to a draw in the league earlier in the season.

Following a scoreless first half, Peter Hutton headed in the opener for the Candystripes in the 57th minute.

Derry continued to hold the advantage before Michael Holt made sure of vital league points with the second in the 75th minute.

Hutton, a member of Shels double-winning team in 2000, rose the highest to head home a Killian Brennan corner from 12 yards.

Holt's effort was a shot just inside the Shels area following a mistake between David Crawley and David Rogers.

Derry City now leapfrog over Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick's and stretch out an 11-point gap from bottom side Dublin City.
