Ciaran Martyn is likely to be available to Dykes next season |
Derry City boss Gavin Dykes has moved quickly to strengthen his squad after their narrow escape from relegation. Kildare county defender Damien Brennan and Sligo Rovers goalkeeper Ciaran Kelly have agreed to move to the Brandywell club.
In addition, Dykes has retained the services of Robbie Hedderman while Ciaran Martyn is expected to remain at the club.
Dykes, himself, has been given a two-year contract.
Midfielder Martyn had signed a pre-contract agreement with Shelbourne but he has had a change of heart and is expected to remain with the Candystripes.
Kelly was Sligo Rovers player of the season this year.
Alan Gough was Derry's number one this season while the injured former Glentoran goalkeeper Wayne Russell is also on the club's books.
Eamon Doherty (two years), Peter Hutton (three years) and Mark Farren (two years) have signed contract extensions with the club.
King future in doubt
It is not yet clear whether Liam Coyle will be at the Brandywell next season.
Coyle had indicated that he would quit at the end of the campaign just ended but he may be asked to have a rethink.
Meanwhile, Finn Harps boss Noel King is undecided over whether he wants to remain at the club.
His short-term contract is now over and it is unclear whether the Harps board will ask him to stay in charge.
Harps players Donan O'Brien and Johnny Kenny are understood to have retired while Trevor Scanlon may concentrate on his coaching role at the club from now on.
