Crusaders 3-2 Larne
Gavin Arthur scored from the penalty spot for Crusaders

Crusaders came from behind twice to snatch only their second home win in the Irish League this season.

But the two big talking points were controversial penalty awards by Strabane referee George McKay.

However, one went to each side so perhaps things evened themselves out and no manager can have real cause for complaint.

Larne, with just one win out of their last five in the league, took the lead on 15 minutes when Gary Wray's right-wing cross beat the Crues defence and Gary Clifford was able to head into an empty net.

The first penalty was awarded on 24 minutes following a tangle between Larne's Jim McCloskey and James Willis of Crusaders.

McCloskey was penalised for a foul although televsion replays indicated a free to Larne should have been given instead.

However, Gavin Arthur stepped up to level with the spot-kick.

Larne regained the lead four minutes after the break when Derek Delaney netted the second penalty of the match, harshly awarded against Jeff Spiers for hand-ball.

Back came the Crues again to equalise for a second time through Willis on 52 minutes.

That set the stage for defender Stephen McBride to score the 78th minute for Crusaders with a sweetly-struck left-foot shot past Andy McDonald.
