Derry City surged to a relegation/promotion shoot-out with Finn Harps after a comfortable second leg victory over Limerick at the Brandywell.
A hat-trick by Mark Farren gave the Candystripes a deserved victory after the sides failed to score in the first leg last Wednesday in Limerick.
Eddie McCallion got a fourth goal for Derry who now travel to Ballybofey on Wednesday evening for the first leg of their relegation/promotion play-off against their north-west neighbours.
Finn Harps, who defeated Bray United 2-1 on Saturday night to set-up the duel, will then travel to the Brandywell next Saturday night for the second leg.
Derry were by far the more potent force against the First Division hopefuls, but failed to turn possession into goals. A handful of chances went abegging until Farren finally struck on the stroke of half-time.
The Derry forward surged onto a Gary Beckett through ball to place the ball past John Healy.
Farren's second effort was a brilliant effort. He took a Sean Hargan pass in his stride to get in behind the Limerick defence and he again gave Healy no chance in the Limerick goal.
Derry virtually wrapped up proceeding when Farren got the final touch for his third goal in the 65th minute after Hargan had headed the ball goal-bound at the far post.
McCallion then made absolutely sure with Derry's fourth goal a couple of minutes from time.
