Paul Gaston is in his 14th year with Coleraine |
There will be a whiff of nostalgia in the air at Coleraine Showgrounds on Thursday night when the club's stars of yesteryear turn back the clock for Paul Gaston's testimonial.
Seventies and eighties icons will play a 'legends' friendly before the current Coleraine team tackle Dutch side Leonidas.
Ray McCoy, Ricky Wade, Ronnie McDowell and Pat Mullan are all in line to make an appearance as are 1977 Irish Cup final heroes Liam Beckett, Frankie Moffatt and Michael Guy who all scored in a memorable 4-1 victory over Linfield.
Coleraine manager Marty Quinn has urged supporters to turn out and back the drive to mark 30-year-old Gaston's sterling service.
"I have seen loyalty to clubs from players down the years but 'Gacky' is in a league of his own in that respect," said Quinn.
"He is going into his 14th season and is as passionate about Coleraine now as he probably was back in 1990. I just hope the punters come out and enjoy it all."
Gaston, handed his chance by Iam McFaul at 17, will roll up his sleeves when the Bannsiders continue their warm up for next Thursday's home UEFA Cup qualifier against Portuguese side UD Leiria with a run out against Rotterdam club Leonidas.
The legends game, arranged by former player Dermot Doherty, starts at 1900 BST with the Dutch in action around 45 minutes later.
