Institute 0-4 Glentoran
Glentoran wrapped up the Daily Mirror Irish League championship with a comprehensive victory at Drumahoe.
Roy Coyle's side, the dominant force in Northern Ireland this season, made sure of the title with four matches still left to play.
The Glens raced into a three-goal lead in the opening quarter of an hour.
Tim McCann scored in the first minute, Darren Armour got the second on 11 minutes and then Colin Nixon made it 3-0.
Glentoran's top goalscorer Andy Smith capped things with a second half goal.
Now Glentoran will go into the 3 May Nationwide Irish Cup final aiming to complete a clean sweep of four trophies.
It was Roy Coyle's 46th trophy success as a manager in the Irish League, 13 of them with the Glens.
His team, who had 12 points deducted over a registration controversy only to have them restored early in the season, lost just three league games during the campaign.
McCann's opener was timed at 56 seconds, the former Cliftonville man shooting low into the net after a Scott Young corner was poorly cleared.
Young was also involved in the second goal, his free-kick being headed in by Armour.
Then Nixon headed in the third from a Young corner and the contest was effectively over after ust 15 minutes.
To make matters worse for Institute, their goalkeeper John Connolly was taken to hospital with suspected concussion and midfielder Paul McLaughlin had to go into goal for the second half.
Smith scored 10 minutes from time for his 35th goal of the season.
Glentoran's Tim McCann said their blistering start was just what manager Roy Coyle had ordered.
"The gaffer wanted us to get a good start and you cannot do any better than scoring in the first minute," said scorer Tim McCann who had two previous league medals, one with Glentoran and the other with Cliftonville.
"After that we just went from strength to strength."
Manager Coyle paid tribute tot he Glens' supporters.
"Once again they were fantastic," said Coyle.
"They have been brilliant all season and stood by us when things were not going well regarding the Andy Kilmartin affair."
