Rab Douglas: The Celtic goalkeeper had little to do but pulled off a good save from Nerijus Barasa after 36 minutes.

Jackie McNamara: Was pulled out of position too often, was booked for a clumsy challenge in the first half and offered little in attack.

Christian Dailly: Was again as solid as a rock at the back in the twilight of his career with some vital interceptions.

Steven Pressley: Did his job professionally and quietly at the back.

Gary Naysmith: As tenacious and lively as usual, was booked for an over-zealous tackle early on but kept plugging away and set up the winning goal.

Gavin Rae: Has been in form for Dundee but was subdued on the big occasion and offered little of his usual powerful, thrusting runs.

Barry Ferguson: Probed industrially, but has lost the cutting edge he had with Rangers last season and the final, killer ball was missing.

Colin Cameron: Was his usual industrious self but found it difficult to find room for his trademark goalscoring runs into the box.

James McFadden: Was electric down the left wing, teasing and going past defenders at will, but he lacked support and the final ball just never ran for the Everton man.

Stevie Crawford: Worked his socks off as usual for the cause but found it impossible to win space behind the packed defence and had a second-half header kicked off the line.

Kenny Miller: Looked lively at the start but quickly faded out of the game as his lack of match fitness began to tell.

Darren Fletcher (replaced Colin Cameron): Made an immediate impact after coming on midway throught the second half and fired in a lovely controlled volley to score the vital goal.

Don Hutchison (replaced Kenny Miller): Short of match fitness but provided some muscle up front after coming on midway through the second half without causing many problems for the defence.

Graeme Alexander (replaced James McFadden): Came on in the final seconds to waste time and did not have time to make an impact.
