The Republic of Ireland will play Turkey at Lansdowne Road |
The Republic of Ireland are to play Turkey in a friendly mach at Lansdowne Road on Tuesday 9 September.
Both teams will use the game as a warm-up for their final European Championship fixtures the following month.
Brian Kerr's Irish side could have qualification at stake when they travel to Switzerland on 11 October while Turkey's last game will have huge significance as they are at home to England.
The Republic's next game is a friendly against Australia on Tuesday 19 August at Lansdowne Road.
Then on Saturday 6 September they face Russia in a crucial Euro qualifier in Dublin.
The following Wednesday there is a programme of European Championship qualifiers but, as Ireland and Turkey were not involved, the friendly game was set up for the night before.
Turkey, placed third in the last World Cup, have emerged as a major force in European football and should provide Kerr's side with a big test.
Their last meeting with the Republic of Ireland was in a two-legged play-off which the Turks won on away goals to secure a place at Euro 2000.
