Weir was left out of the Scotland squad that suffered defeat in Norway
David Weir says he was perfectly happy to accept George Burley's recall to the Scotland squad despite being overlooked for the last game in Norway.
"There has always been an understanding that, if I was not going to play, I would not be there," said the defender.
"He picked the team for that particular game and brought players in he thought would handle that game.
"What I think about it is not really an issue. International football is tough and I have to respect his opinion."
The 39-year-old Rangers defender was given a tough time by John Carew as Norway drew 0-0 at Hampden in the first Group Nine meeting between the teams.
However, without Weir at the heart of the defence, the Norwegians dented Scotland's World Cup qualification hopes with a 4-0 win in Oslo following a red card suffered by Gary Caldwell following a tussle with Carew.
Pressure has mounted on Scotland manager Burley as a result, with suggestions that his job could be under scrutiny should his side fail to finish second in their group and at least make the play-offs.
"There is a lot of negativity surrounding Scotland for different reasons and we've got to put that behind us in the games coming up," Weir told BBC Scotland.
To judge someone half way through a campaign is unfair and we should not be doing that
Scotland defender David Weir
"To judge someone half way through a campaign is unfair and we should not be doing that.
"I think we are a bit quick to jump on the bandwagon and look for change and look for solutions that maybe are not there.
"You are judged on qualification and you're judged on your performance in tournaments.
"We've got to give the manager time and support and, if he wants to carry on and the SFA want him to carry on, there's no reason why he should not do that."
