Brian Eastick's side fell at the same stage as their Under-21 counterparts
England's Under-19s conceded goals in the fifth minute of each half as hosts Ukraine secured a deserved 2-0 win in the final of the European Championship.
Denys Garmash got Ukraine off to a flying start as he crashed home a near-post volley from a fifth-minute corner.
England fought back as Nathan Delfouneso was denied a goal by the offside flag and Danny Drinkwater and Henri Lansbury squandered chances.
But a precise Dmytro Korkishko strike on 50 minutes put Ukraine out of reach.
Before kick-off the two teams, who had drawn 2-2 in the group stages of the tournament, observed a minute's silence for former England manager Sir Bobby Robson, who died on Friday.
But the home crowd were soon in full voice as Garmash stole a yard of space to apply a crisp finish to Korkishko's set-piece.
Goalkeeper Jason Steele had to be alert to keep England falling further behind as Kyrylo Petrov's speculative long-range effort threatened to embarrass him.
But there was little Steele could do when a trip from Everton's Dan Gosling granted Korkishko a chance to line up a free-kick from just outside the box.
The Dynamo Kiev forward stroked the ball into the the top corner to double the lead and give his side a stranglehold on the match.
Vitaliy Kaverin and Petrov both missed good opportunities to compound the misery for Brian Eastick's youngsters as England searched in vain for a way back.
"Obviously being the home team was a big advantage to them and the two things really were the timing of the goals - to concede so early in the first half and then again in the second half, it put us back on our heels," said Eastick.
