Northern Ireland won ugly against Slovenia but it was a fantastic way to end a tough week.
Both teams had expended a lot of energy, both mentally and physically, on Saturday but it was a very, very spirited display from the boys in green.
You are guaranteed maximum effort from this Northern Ireland side and they displayed great spirit and character, stuck together and deserved to win.
Although Slovenia were the better team in the first half I always felt Northern Ireland were very much in the game.
The two full-backs had to be replaced early in the game but their replacements, Chris Baird and Ryan McGivern, put in great shifts.
Maik Taylor made two wonderful saves and I think he got a touch to take Robert Koren's shot onto the crossbar.
It was a super strike but Maik did well and he has played a huge part in recent campaigns.
It was a fantastic header from Warren Feeney to win it - the build-up was concise, composed and patient.
Damien Johnson passed well to Sammy Clingan and he put in a great cross to Feeney, who did well to score from a difficult position.
It was a wonderful execution of a super move, a tremendous build-up and a finish to match.
On the back of a tough game on Saturday, this was a really gritty performance and it was a great effort by the players.
You can tell there is belief, character and spirit in the squad and they deserve great credit.
It's a pity there's not another qualifier coming up soon because Northern Ireland have momentum.
Michael O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland midfielder
Northern Ireland had the pressure of needing six points from the two games to give themselves a chance and they delivered.
After beating top nations in Belfast there was nothing to fear from Poland and Slovenia coming to Windsor Park.
It was not vintage football and there was little in the way of goalmouth action but the win was the important thing.
Slovenia were better organised and defended better than Poland.
The incentive was there for the Slovenians as a win would have put them in a good position, with two matches against San Marino still to come.
But Northern Ireland had the belief that if they got a chance they had someone in their front two to take it.
The ball was behind Feeney so he did fantastically well to score.
He put his header in the one area where the goalkeeper had no chance of saving it.
Warren's had to be patient to get a place in the team, he's been on the bench a lot, but after two goals in two games it has certainly paid off and he has really taken his chance.
So two good wins but I think Northern Ireland still have to take a minimum of seven points from the remaining three games to make it.
