Toshack hails Fletcher & Robinson

Manager John Toshack says veteran midfielders Carl Fletcher and Carl Robinson have a Wales future, despite the emergence of young talent.

"In competitive games they're still very much in my thinking," he said.

"They are experienced players who at times if you see things are not going right then maybe one can go on."

Youngsters Jack Collison and Aaron Ramsey partnered each other in midfield in last month's 1-0 friendly win in Denmark and are seen as Wales' future.

606: DEBATE
"They've taken over from Fletcher and Robinson as far as I'm concerned," said ex-Wales striker John Hartson after the victory in Brondby.

"Them two will be the mainstay in the middle of the park for me."

Toshack says the extent of Robinson and Fletcher's future input will depend on the development of his prodigiously talented Premier League youngsters.

"How quick and how well the youngsters progress will probably decide how much longer they carry on playing [for Wales]," Toshack told BBC Sport Wales.

"But there's space for six substitutes now on the bench."
