The England boss was unimpressed with the fans' treatment of Ashley Cole

England coach Fabio Capello was happy with his side's display as they overcame a poor start to win their World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan.

A goalless first 50 minutes prompted restlessness from the Wembley crowd, but a late rally saw the hosts win 5-1.

And Capello said: "I am happy for the result and especially the second half.

"The result was the all important thing and we got a good win. We have nine points now from three games and have scored plenty of goals. It's job done."

Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Jermain Defoe got the goals, along with an Alexandr Kuchma own goal, as England recovered from a disjointed opening to run out comfortable winners.

The scoreline flattered Capello's side, though, and an Ashley Cole error which gifted Zhambyl Kukeyev a reply at 2-0 prompted boos from the Wembley crowd.

However, Capello pleaded with fans to be more patient in future, saying: "I didn't like the booing, especially as it was targeted at one player.

"It is always possible to make a mistake and after an error has been made we need to support the player, not the opposite. I ask the crowd, when we have problems you have to help us - booing is no good for anybody."

Those sentiments were echoed by captain Ferdinand, who said: "It's disappointing. When any player makes a mistake all you want to do is get behind him and gee him up and make sure with his next touch that he gets his confidence back and plays himself back into the game.

"It doesn't help when the fans are booing one of their own players. Hopefully the people have gone and may feel a bit ashamed of themselves."

Rooney, though, chose to focus on the positives, saying: "We knew we had to be patient. We know we can play better but the result was the most important today to keep putting the points on the board."

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's German coach, Bernd Storck, was rightly proud of his side's performance.

"We did very well but we tired badly in the second half and that affected our concentration," he said. "We have to work on our endurance but still the result was harsh on my team."
