Rangers and Scotland striker Kenny Miller
Miller's goals have come at a good time for Scotland

George Burley is delighted that Kenny Miller has found form going into Scotland's World Cup qualifiers.

The Scotland manager watched Miller score his first goals since returning to Rangers in the 4-2 win over Celtic.

"Kenny's been a big part of our success in recent seasons so I'm very pleased he's bang on form," said Burley.

"It must give him confidence, but I have no doubts about Kenny's ability to be a big player on key occasions."

And the Scotland boss said despite his lack of goals, Miller always featured strongly in his mind for the double-header against Macedonia and Iceland.

"Kenny has never let Scotland down and you know exactly what you are going to get," said Burley.

"He gives 100% and never stops moving.

"At times, he would maybe be looking to add a few more goals, but he has certainly scored his fair share for Scotland.

Burley totally focused on task ahead

"He is a key member of the squad but it's not a one-man team - it's a team game and Kenny is very much part of that."

Burley also revealed that four or five players in his squad for the double-header are injury concerns.

The national manager would only divulge that striker Garry O'Connor of Birmingham City and Preston defender Callum Davidson are carrying knocks.

However, he said that Celtic captain Stephen McManus should be available, despite picking up an injury in Sunday's Old Firm match.

MY SPORT: DEBATE

Burley is yet to win in his three games in charge of the national team, but said he has more or less decided how his team will line up on Saturday in Skopje.

"I've got an idea in my mind and we will work in training and take it from there," said the Scotland boss.

"It's been great to have three friendly games under my belt, which we have learned a lot from.

"We have players who can adjust to whatever systems we're looking to play and hopefully we can get it right for Macedonia."
