Republic of Ireland Under-21s had to settle for a share of the spoils in the European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Montenegro in Galway.
New senior team assistant Liam Brady was a spectator in the stand as Andy Keogh's goal cancelled out Mijusko Bojovic's second-half header.
Darron Gibson and Celtic defender Darren O'Dea impressed for the Irish.
Keogh notched the Republic's equaliser on 73 minutes shortly after Bojovic's headed goal for the visitors.
Gibson and Keogh, two of the Republic's four full internationals on show in the dead rubber, combined for the first chance of the night after 12 minutes.
Having received the ball from his Wolves team-mate, Keogh did brilliantly to spin off his opponent and make space for himself before unleashing that shot that just shaved the upright.
It was the visitors who came closet in the opening 45, however, when Slobodan Lakicevic's volley was parried on to the post by Ireland's debutant goalkeeper, Shane Supple with Gibson completing the clearance.
Even though the Irish had the better of second half in terms of possession it was the visitors who took the lead on 67 minutes.
Marko Cetkovic, the nephew of Real Madrid great Predrag Mijatovic, supplied a corner that Bojovic duly headed home unopposed.
But Don Givens' men were level within five minutes as Keogh headed home Conor Powell's superb cross.
