Substitute John-Joe O'Toole netted an injury-time winner to give the Republic of Ireland their first win in the Uefa Under-21 Championships qualifiers.

The Watford midfielder headed his first goal for his country from a right-wing cross by Eddie Nolan.

Don Givens' side had lost their first three games and O'Toole's goal was their first of the campaign.

UCD keeper Darren Quigley made two good saves from Vladimir Gadzhev as Bulgaria pressed in the second half.
