Bellamy blamed the Wales fans for his side's poor performance |
Wales captain Craig Bellamy says his team-mates were subjected to "vicious" abuse from their own fans during Wednesday's 2-1 win over San Marino. "I've played for Wales for a number of years and this was one of the worst atmospheres I've been in," he said.
"The Welsh crowd here were very vicious, which is rare. It was an uncomfortable night to play in.
"The chanting early on was vicious and I think that took its toll on the players as well. It wasn't nice."
He added: "This is my country and I'm desperately proud to play for my country, but tonight was the most difficult one I've been involved in."

Wales manager John Toshack said he did not hear any abusive remarks from the Wales supporters.
But he acknowledged they would be right to feel disappointed with the performance they had witnessed in San Marino.
"I always feel that the customer is always right, as they say," Toshack told BBC Wales Sport.
"People have paid to come across here and they are entitled to shout what they want."

Wales started brightly against San Marino and their total dominance was rewarded with two goals inside the first 35 minutes.
But the visitors lacked any creativity and urgency after the break, and their poor display was punished when San Marino captain Andy Selva scored with a superb free-kick.
Bellamy added: "The first half was good enough, we moved it around quick but the second half was very poor.
"We gave silly fouls away, got caught into their game which was very difficult, believe me, and it was very hard for ourselves."
After accusing his players of lacking pride in Saturday's defeat by Cyprus, Toshack refused to comment on whether he had been pleased by their attitude against San Marino.
He said he was satisfied with their half-time display but admitted the final stages were difficult to watch.
"We were not as good as we were in the first half and we gave away a needless free-kick for them to score.
"From then on, we were biting our nails and wanting the whistle.
"That was a pity because it should not have been that close. But it was difficult against a defence that did not come out."
