Nigel Worthington and Aaron Hughes after the draw in Sweden |
Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington praised goalscorer Kyle Lafferty after his side drew 1-1 against Sweden. "Kyle is capable of doing that. He worked hard, was very neat and tidy for most of the game and to score a goal like that against Sweden is great.
"All the players were outstanding and showed what they can do. We took the game to them, deserved a draw and could have just nicked it," said Worthington.
"I'm delighted with our display and we must do the same against Denmark."
The Northern Ireland manager pinpointed what he believed to be the reason for the improved performance after defeats in Latvia and Iceland.
"We went into those two games with the attitude that we could go there and pick up points without hard work.

"We must have the same work ethic, quality and desire to win when we play the Danes in Belfast next month."
Worthington would not be drawn on whether he would remain as international boss after the current Euro 2008 qualifying campaign but did not rule out the prospect of staying at the helm.
"I have agreed a contract until the end of the tournament and that's the way it is.
"I have enjoyed working with the players and with the IFA and they and I have decisions to make.
"I have to ask myself whether I want to stay in international football or go back to club management and have the day-to-day contact with players that I enjoy.
"Working with this group of players has been very pleasing.
"They are dedicated, they want to learn and that is very pleasing as a manager."
