Italy and France kept up the pressure on Scotland with convincing victories in their Group B matches. The French put their campaign back on track as they brushed the Faroes aside with a 6-0 thrashing in Torshavn.
Nicolas Anelka and Thierry Henry scored in the first 10 minutes before goals from Jerome Rothen, Hatem Ben Arfa and a Karim Benzema double sealed the win.
Goals from Andrea Pirlo and Fabio Grosso were enough for the Italians to win 2-0 over Georgia in Genoa.
