The scoreboard in Paris displays the incredible scoreline |
Former Scotland midfielder John Collins described the victory over France in Paris as a "great achievement" by Alex McLeish's side. The Hibernian boss was highly impressed by the quality and work-rate on show in the 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes.
He told Radio 5live: "It was a fantastic result, really fantastic.
"We went in hope rather than expectation but to come away with three points and top of the group is a great achievement."
Collins, who scored a penalty in Paris for Scotland against Brazil in the opening match of the 1998 World Cup Finals, added: "Praise goes to the manager and all the players for their work ethic - they fought for every ball.
"But special credit goes to the goalscorer and goalkeeper - he (Gordon) is world class. "We got worked a couple of times but we had a goalkeeper who last night was in the right place at all times.

"The goal came at a perfect time for us. They were a bit tired and then we scored and it re-energised us."
Midfield star Scott Brown was another who caught the eye of the Easter Road manager: "After the first couple of games last year, I knew Scott was a top quality player.
"We got 4.5million for him but already his value is soaring. One day he will move to the Premier League. He's got an engine, he's all over the park and last night he did his defensive duties very well."
He added: "I think we have to enjoy the occasion. It's not often we go to a world-class country and come away with a victory - it was phenomenal."
