Eastwood hardly put a foot wrong on his Wales debut in Bulgaria |
Wales hero Freddy Eastwood has set his sights on toppling Germany after making a "dream" debut against Bulgaria. Eastwood scored the winner in Bourgas on Wednesday and hopes his performance has ensured his place to face Germany in next month's Euro 2008 qualifier.
"That's the big game and hopefully I've impressed enough to play some part," said the 23-year-old Wolves striker.
"I always felt I was good enough to play for my country, but to score on my debut is a dream come true."
England-born Eastwood only became eligible to play for Wales in May after providing documented proof that his grandfather was born near Llanelli.
A planned debut against New Zealand in May was shelved because of a back injury, but Wales boss John Toshack had no hesitation in handing Eastwood a starting role against Bulgaria on Wednesday.

Eastwood was asked to play an unfamiliar role as a lone striker, but he capped a near faultless first-half display with a stunning solo goal.
That was his third debut goal in a week after he had scored in his first appearances for Wolves in the Carling Cup and then the Championship.
"It's been a good week and it was nice to cap it off by scoring a goal for my country," Eastwood, who joined Wolves this summer from Southend for 1.5m, told BBC Wales Sport.
"It was tough playing on my own up front, it's the first time I've ever played in that role.
"But I think I coped quite well and adapted to the role, and overall as a team I thought we did well.

"Wayne [Hennessey] had a superb game in goal - he saved so many good chances they had.
"He kept them out at one end and I put one in at the other so it was a good combination."
Eastwood was one of nine players under 24-years-old who faced a strong Bulgaria side that had gone more than two years without a home defeat.
The victory gave Wales a timely confidence boost ahead of their qualifier against Group D leaders Germany in Cardiff on 8 September.
Germany also enjoyed an impressive friendly win on Wednesday by beating England 2-1 at Wembley, and Toshack has warned his young guns not to get carried away with the Bulgaria victory.
"This was a great win for us, but we have to build on it and continue to progress," said Toshack.
"But a result such as this one will give us a boost and maybe get a really big crowd into the Millennium Stadium to see us.
"The fans in the last game against the Czechs actually started to believe we could win that one, and I have not heard that feeling of confidence inside the stadium for a long while.
"Maybe if we get the five or so important players we had missing against Bulgaria back into the fold, then we may be able to produce another display like this one."
