Nigel Worthington is eager for a switch to a new national stadium |
Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington believes Windsor Park is no longer suitable for international football. Worthington wants a move to a proposed national stadium, especially with the IFA considering playing games overseas because of Windsor's limited capacity.
"It's a no brainer - we need a new stadium. I've no preference where it should be but we need it," he said.
"The last thing players, managers, fans and the media want is Northern Ireland to play outside Northern Ireland."
"Windsor Park has been tremendous for Northern Ireland football but we need a new stadium," Worthington told the Belfast Telegraph.
"It's got to be done yesterday as opposed to tomorrow.
"We need adequate facilities for men, women and children. Somewhere where familes can be entertained in a healthy environment."

The IFA is "actively pursuing" the option of playing two Northern Ireland friendlies overseas.
"The IFA can barely sustain international football on current attendance levels of 13,000 plus," said chief executive Howard Wells.
He added that playing games outside NI next February and March would be a means of generating revenue.
Plans have been drawn up for a 35,000-seater ground at the Maze, near Lisburn, which would attract major fixtures in football, rugby and Gaelic games.
But there is significant support for siting the new venue in Belfast.
NI Sports Minister Edwin Poots has indicated that a final decision would be taken in the autumn.
