Brooking wants England to appoint a permanent under-21 coach |
Sir Trevor Brooking has revealed the Football Association wants to appoint a full-time England Under-21 coach. Stuart Pearce is currently in charge on a part-time basis for the European Championship in Holland.
But FA director of football development Brooking says moves will be made to bring in a permanent coach this summer.
He told BBC Radio Five Live: "We all feel the post should be full-time and we will be looking at that shortly after the end of the tournament."
Pearce is currently in charge until the end of the tournament and will hope to make his case to be handed the post.
Brooking added: "We have always said we will wait until the end of the tournament, but Stuart Pearce has organised them really well.
"It is down to the professional game members of our main board to agree the sort of contract we can offer, and that will be relevant to the sort of person we can attract."
