Owen made his comeback from injury on 30 April |
England coach Steve McClaren says the return of Michael Owen for the B international at Burnley on Friday is a major boost for the team. Owen, 27, has not played for England since the 2006 World Cup in Germany but is set to play against Albania.
"I think the likes of Michael Owen will be like new signings," ex-Middlesbrough boss McClaren told the League Managers' Association website.
"Michael over the years has proved that he scores vital goals."

And McClaren is relishing the return of a proven goalscorer.
"He scores goals out of nothing, he scores goals when the team is probably not playing well and every successful team needs a goalscorer like that," added the England coach.
Owen made his return from a long-term knee injury for club side Newcastle on 30 April.
The striker made three appearances for Newcastle before the end of the season without scoring - and McClaren has appealed for Owen to be given time to find his best form.
"I don't think anybody expects a lot from him, it's just great to have him back, involved and playing," added McClaren.
"But let's give him time and let's be patient because the majority of the time it does take a while to get your timing back, to gets the runs back - though, looking at Michael, he looks very fit and very sharp."
Chelsea midfielder Cole, who is not in the B squad, missed a large part of the season following surgery on a stress fracture of the foot in November.
He returned for the Champions League tie against Valencia on 4 April and played 13 games in the closing stages of the season.
