IFA chief Howard Wells
IFA chief Howard Wells says radical reform is necessary
The Irish Football Association is set to unveil its proposals for a radical revamp of the Irish League structure within a matter of weeks.

The new top flight is expected to include 12 teams with a 10 team Intermediate Premier League and a 10 team First Division.

League delegates were updated on Monday night and told that negotiations with a sponsor were at an advanced stage.

All clubs in the new Premier League must meet specific criteria.

They must have a Uefa and domestic licence, sound finances, seating, lighting and other ground measures.

"We will hopefully be making an announcment by mid-December," Premier League chairman Bobby Jameson told the News Letter.
