Makelele wanted to quit international football |
France coach Raymond Domenech has included Chelsea's Claude Makelele in his squad for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Scotland on 7 October. The 33-year-old midfielder announced his international retirement following the World Cup final defeat to Italy.
But Domenech called Makelele up for the opening Group B ties - wins over Georgia and Italy.
Domenech had threatened to invoke a Fifa rule which means a domestic ban if the player refused to play.
Makelele's call-up for the first two Euro 2008 qualifiers prompted Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to claim the former Real Madrid star was being treated like a "slave".
Juventus striker David Trezeguet has also been included after missing the Georgia and Italy games through injury.
And Lyon defensive midfielder Jeremy Toulalan has been handed his second call-up after being picked for a friendly match against Bosnia last month.
Monaco defender Gael Givet is dropped in favor of Sevilla's Julien Escude.
Arsenal's Thierry Henry is likely to be partnered by either Louis Saha of Manchester United or Lyon's Sidney Govou in attack at Hampden.
And Patrick Vieira, who has been sent off twice already for Inter Milan this season, is set to make his 97th international appearance.
