Clemence joined the England set-up in 1996 |
England manager Steve McClaren will retain Ray Clemence as the national team's goalkeeping coach. McClaren is forming his own backroom team after taking over from Sven-Goran Eriksson and said: "Ray is a vital member of the coaching set-up.
"I was very keen to see him continue in his role.
"He is hugely respected by the players and his own experience of international football, both as a player and a coach, will be invaluable to me."
Clemence has done the job since 1996 and combines it with a permanent role supervising the England teams from under-16 to under-20.
The former England keeper said: "I've enjoyed the 10 years in the job and I'm sure there are bright times ahead.
"Steve will have his own way and his own methods and we will find them out over the next four years."
