Luiz Felipe Scolari has been offered the England manager's job but many supporters may not know too much about him.

Here, BBC Sport looks what he has achieved in his career so far...

The 57-year-old Brazilian first made his name as a manager in his home country after an undistinguished playing career by winning a series of domestic trophies.

After leading Criciuma to the Brazilian Cup he joined Gremio and enjoyed a successful four-year spell.

In his time at the club they won the Cup and also the Copa Libertadores de America - an annual competition between South America's leading clubs.

This took them into the Intercontinental Cup final against Ajax, which they lost in a penalty shoot-out.

In 1997 he moved to Palmeiras and enjoyed similar success - helping his new club lift the Brazilian Cup and Copa Libertadores trophy before losing in the Intercontinental Cup final - this time to Roy Keane's goal for Manchester United.

He then had a brief spell at Cruzeiro before moving on to the international stage.

Scolari was summoned from club football to revive the Brazil national team - and did so in spectacular style.

The four-time World Cup winners were in danger of missing out altogether on the 2002 finals in Japan and South Korea when he was appointed.

Brazil lost his opening qualifier 1-0 to Uruguay but three wins in their final five matches were enough to secure them the third automatic place in the finals from the South American group.

Scolari proved that he would do things his own way by leaving the popular Romario out of his squad and the decision paid off as he led the country to their fifth World Cup triumph.

After beating England 2-1 in the quarter-finals they went on to lift the trophy with two goals from Ronaldo seeing off Germany in the final.

Scolari was on the move within months of the final in Yokohama to take charge of the Portugal national team.

This time there was no qualification process for him to endure as Portugal were the hosts of Euro 2004.

Despite losing their opening game 2-1 to Greece, Portugal still went through to the knockout stages as group winners.

Scolari continued his hold over England - ending their hopes in the quarter-finals once again, this time in a penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 draw.

Portugal then beat Holland to reach the final but in front of their own fans, Greece once again proved their undoing with a shock 1-0 win to take the trophy.

Scolari, nicknamed 'Big Phil', is currently preparing to manage in his second World Cup finals.

Portugal cruised through their qualifying group - they were unbeaten and finished seven points clear of Slovakia.

They kick off their campaign in Germany against Angola and also face Iran and Mexico in their group.
