Alan Curbishley wants to concentrate on the FA Cup |
England candidate Alan Curbishley says the race to replace Sven-Goran Eriksson will step up in the next few weeks. "Once they have got preliminary discussions out of the way they will narrow it down because they want to do it before the World Cup."
The Charlton manager added: "I'm sure it will be stepped up in the next couple of weeks but I don't think anyone knows how.
"They are trying to take their time and be as thorough as they can."
Curbishley admitted continuing speculation about the England job is a difficult distraction for any manager in work.
He would much rather talk about the Addicks FA Cup match against Middlesbrough on Thursday.
He said: "For the people already working, the distraction is difficult and we really should be talking about other things."
"They have been quite open they have been talking to a number of people."
