Marks out of 10 for England players from the friendly match against Uruguay at Anfield.Paul Robinson: Barely involved and did not have a prayer with Pouso's wondergoal. Made one smart save after the break. Gary Neville: Worked the line tirelessly with a series of lung-busting runs to support the midfield and did not put a foot wrong in defence. Wayne Bridge: Made a steady start with a couple of surging runs but his night ended in misery when he was forced off with ankle ligament damage. John Terry: Rarely tested but as dependable and dominant as ever when called upon and unlucky not to score after a barnstorming run from the halfway line. Rio Ferdinand: Little to do defensively but showed some all-too-familiar lapses in concentration with some sloppy distribution from the back - mistakes that could have led to goals. His form must be a worry for Eriksson. Michael Carrick: Composed and disciplined in the holding midfield role. Retained possession well, showed a good range of passing and had a couple of decent long-range strikes on goal. David Beckham: Linked up well with Neville in the first half and produced a number of his trademark crosses and a couple of fine throughballs. Booked for a clumsy late challenge. Steven Gerrard: Given freedom to roam forward more in Frank Lampard's absence and had plenty of the ball, but like his midfield colleagues missed the presence of Michael Owen leading the line. Joe Cole:STAR MAN Another superb display. Skipped past defenders at will, looked comfortable when he moved inside, teed up Crouch's equaliser with a teasing cross. Capped his display with coolly-taken injury-time winner. Wayne Rooney: Busy and impressive and always involved. Plays every game like it is his last and this friendly was no exception. Had a rasping 25-yard shot tipped past the post. Darren Bent: Plenty of effort but lacked guile. Unable to use his pace in behind the deep-lying Uruguay rearguard. Unlucky with a cross-shot but fluffed an excellent headed chance.
Substitutes Jamie Carragher (replaced Wayne Bridge 29 mins) Proved his versatility with an able display filling in at left-back - something he may yet have to do in the summer. Ledley King (replaced John Terry, 45 mins): Solid no-thrills display. Looks comfortable in an England shirt and given Sol Campbell's problems and Ferdinand's indifferent form he could yet force his way into the reckoning. Jermaine Jenas (replaced Steve Gerrard, 45 mins): Quiet but effective. Did the simple things well but needs to shine if he is to force his way into the starting line-up. Shaun Wright-Phillips (replaced David Beckham, 65 mins): Showed his potential as a matchwinner. Frightened the life out the South Americans and put in several probing crosses from the right flank, including setting up Cole's winner. Peter Crouch (replaced Wayne Rooney, 65 mins): Took his goal brilliantly and showed a deft touch and great awareness to put Cole through moments later. His sheer presence seems to terrify unsuspecting defences. Jermain Defoe (replaced Darren Bent, 82 mins): No time to make an impact.
