Steve Staunton's Republic faces a tough qualifying group |
Steve Staunton's first competitive match as manager of the Republic of Ireland will be a European qualifier away to Germany on 2 September. The Group D fixtures were agreed at a meeting in Frankfurt on Thursday.
The Republic's four games in 2007 will be played at Croke Park while Lansdowne Road is being redeveloped.
The first is against Wales on 24 March with Slovakia, Germany and Cyprus coming to the north Dublin GAA venue later in the year.
"We achieved our key objectives in relation to these fixtures including no fixtures in June thus avoiding possible heat problems and end-of-season fixtures," said Staunton.
"I am also pleased that we achieved our target of playing Germany in Dublin towards the end of the qualifying campaign."
