Crouch nets England call-up Graham Taylor's view

The 6ft 7in Southampton striker has scored 17 goals this season, despite his side's lowly league position.

Crouch's unmistakable physique has frequently made him the target for abuse from both opposition and his own team's fans.

But the 24-year-old's displays have seen him become an unlikely beacon of hope in Southampton's fight for survival.

Despite his huge frame, Crouch insists he wants to be recognised for his skill with a ball at his feet rather than his prowess in the air and he has his fair share of supporters.

But is Crouch worthy of a place in England's squad?

It's a poor reflection on the England squad - unless Sven wants to play a long ball game. If you play some giant up front, and hoof balls up towards him then it's obvious he's going to win stuff in the air. Andy
